Good afternoon! I am glad to have the warmer weather back this week. Along with spring weather comes the opening of farm stands and farmers markets. We’ve been trying to spread the word about Lafayette’s Farmers Market, not only because we’ll be there but also because it’s something we feel that Lafayette needs. Based on some conversations we've had from customers, we're not alone in feeling that way.
We appreciate that Peter and Margo, the market's organizers, have a Lafayette-based business focus, emphasizing some smaller businesses you might not know about. They too are Lafayette residents (though of course we appreciate all of our customers, no matter where they live), and there’s something to be said for investing in your community, no matter how large or small you define it. We’ve gotten some new customers already from their efforts, and we've learned about some farms and businesses we hadn't heard of through their newsletter and Instagram account.
In some ways, a farmers market serves as a modern-day town hall—it’s a weekly chance to see familiar faces, meet new neighbors, and celebrate what makes our community special. With over 60 local vendors already on board, there’s an energy building from that lineup, but now it's time to get the word out. While some customers know about the market, many haven’t heard of it, so there's still some work to be done.
We just saw an email this morning from the Lafayette Farmers Market: If you'd like to place a sign in your yard for the market, swing by East Simpson Coffee (201 E Simpson St in Lafayette) this Sunday between 9 and 11 to pick one up on the patio.
Now on to bread matters...we're bringing back our Parmesan Peppercorn and Cinnamon Pecan Sourdough Breads this week. (P.S. I still haven't found a source for parmesan cubes, so the price of that loaf will still be higher...we have also added a large loaf as an option).
Hope everyone has a great week!
