It's been a couple of months since we've talked about progress on our storefront, so we'd thought we'd share an update.

As we previously mentioned, we submitted our initial plans to the city in mid-December of last year and have been in the Planning Department's review queue since. We don't have any additional insight into the timing of that, but we are now starting to reach out to some construction companies to gather estimates.

We did catch up with Brigid Keating, Lafayette's Economic Director and the Executive Director of the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority (LURA) this past week.  In conjunction with getting estimates for building out our space, we will begin exploring an Economic Development Agreement with LURA and the city to collaborate on possible funding assistance for our project.

We have mentioned that our space will have a small retail area in the front for sales, a decent-sized commercial kitchen for the bakery, and a patio area that wraps around the front of the building. We are also planning for two small office spaces in the back of the building that we intend to lease. In addition, we are considering building the kitchen in such a way that we could potentially rent it out as a shared kitchen for other local food businesses to use as well.

This is all still preliminary and more conversation will happen with the city and LURA, but that's where things stand at the moment.
